Our History

Atelier first opened its doors in 1997 as an Aveda concept salon in Los Altos. Five years later, based on salon performance and outstanding customer service reviews, the Aveda corporation chose Atelier to open the flagship Bay Area Aveda lifestyle salon/spa in Santana Row in San Jose. Since then, the Atelier lifestyle salon/spa has been widely recognized as one of the fastest-growing, top-rated salon/spas in both the Bay Area community and the nation.  In June of 2007, Atelier Studio was opened, being the second Aveda lifestyle salon at Santana Row.

Atelier has received the distinction of being one of the Top 200 salons in North America for 2005 and 2006 by Salon Today magazine.

At Atelier, we feel passionate about our industry and our craft. We believe that learning never ends, and that teamwork is more fun than working alone. We offer our guests a team environment, where they have the ultimate freedom of choice. Each of our talented artists auditions for a position at Atelier, and they all leave their egos at the door. Our goal is to create All-Stars, not Superstars. We encourage our guests to move about the salon...try a new artist each time, or mix and match services: one artist for cut, another for color. We're always happy to see you.

Our business hours are designed to accomodate the guests schedule, for the ultimate in customer service.

Atelier's team of talented artists and guest service coordinators have been awarded both technical and customer service recognition for its comprehensive education and training programs as well as their styling/coloring talents. Atelier artist work has been featured in Vogue, Elle, InStyle and Town & Country Magazines, as well as many Bay Area Fashion events.

Karie Bennett, Atelier's founder, is currently recognized by Aveda as one of the top ten colorists in the country.
